01/29/00 ================================================================ Title : 45 Degree Horizon Filename : pjwduel1.bsp Author : Pat Williams E-mail : pjw@planetquake.com Website : www.planetquake.com/pjw Description : Quake II 1v1 deathmatch map ================================================================ * Play Information * ================================================================ Very small and intense map designed for one-on-one deathmatch. I cranked most of this one out in about six hours in a frenzy of mapping, took another eight or ten hours over the next few days for fine touches, agonized about weapon and item placement and load for the next couple of weeks, and fixed a couple of really lame spawnpoint placements a couple of weeks after that when I realized how easy they were to camp :-P Put pjwduel1.bsp and pjwduel1.txt (this file) into your Quake2\baseq2\maps folder (if you don't have one, create one). Put all the textures into a folder named pjwduel1 in your Quake2\baseq2\textures folder (create one). To play, pull down the console during the game (with the ~ key) and type "map pjwduel1" (without the quotes). Hit enter, and you're fragging! This is the fourth map that I have released. Any and all feedback is appreciated (but if you hated it or liked it, please say why). ================================================================ Single Player : Uh-uh. Cooperative : Nope. Deathmatch : YOU BETCHA! (3 respawn spots) Player load : one on one (although I have played with up to 4 opponents FFA, and it *can* work if you're kind of insane). Weapons load : Everything except the hyperblaster. Item load : No silencer, no power armor or power shield. Pretty much everything else. Difficulty Settings : No New Sounds : No New Graphics : Yes, this map has textures from everybody and their dog (although it seems to have worked). The lava texture is from Parley Hatch (the OgREmaN). Thanks Parley! Also included are textures from Iikka "Fingers" Keranen's iktex01 texture set. Thanks Iikka! Also included are awesome textures from Ogro. Thanks Ogro! Also included are textures from the Hexen2-Tibet set provided by Mr. Clean. Thanks Mr. Clean! Finally, there are textures from Nedman's great map Hysteria (which are originally from the Awakening Mod). Thanks Nedman! ================================================================ * Construction * Build time: : About 20 hours. Compile time: : w. 233 and 64 meg BSP: 13 secs. VIS: 1205 secs. "The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death. What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating...you finish off as an orgasm." -- George Carlin
